- LinkedIn is easy.
LinkedIn is easy.
Why play on hard mode?

Me, looking for the easy way out
As I’ve said before, I’m a mediocre YouTuber— and that’s not false modesty, it’s the truth.
It’s not so much that I suck, it’s more that YouTube is the best of the best. Since you can actually make real money there, YouTubers are the cream of the crop when it comes to creators.
(and then there’s me… the guy bringing down the average)
They’re professional, full-time creators who do literally nothing but make the best content they possibly can— and that’s your competition.
You can still win! I did it, and I’ve helped other people do it too.
It’s just gonna be tougher than doing the same thing on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is easy mode for creators.
It’s fundamentally different from YouTube, IG, TikTok, etc in that almost nobody on LinkedIn is a full-time creator.
These are mostly people with a normal desk job who make content when they have time. They’re not necessarily “creators” by nature, they’re more like subject matter experts who also publish content.
They generally don’t have a team of designers, editors, etc behind them (some of the biggest creators do, but it’s not a common thing like it is on YouTube).
And because it’s a “professional” platform, most people are scared to say anything remotely spicy, so most of the content is really safe.
That’s not to say it’s bad content. I think a lot of it is actually really good! It’s just a little dry and bland, and let’s be real— people want to be entertained, even on a “work” app like LinkedIn.
(“It’s ok to look at memes at work if they’re work memes, right??”)
So if you have even a little bit of personality, you’ll instantly stand out from all the people who are “very excited to announce that they’ll be joining {team} at {company} and look forward to a new chapter of their career” or sharing links to webinar recordings that precisely zero people want to watch.
(friendly reminder to b2b marketers: literally NOBODY wants to watch your webinar… stop trying to make it happen 🤦)
This is ESPECIALLY true for video on LinkedIn, because:
Most people are too lazy to figure out how to record and edit a video (literal 6 year olds do it, you can too)
They’re also scared to be on camera
So if you just make videos— any videos— you’re automatically in the top 10% of LinkedIn creators.
And if you add a little personality too? Then you’re in the top 5%!
This won’t last forever
LinkedIn is already more competitive than it was 18-24 months ago (just look at all the posts about how organic reach is way down since then), and it’s only gonna get more competitive.
It won’t be easy mode for much longer, especially when people from TikTok/IG realize the potential of LinkedIn and make the move.
Just to be totally transparent, this isn’t a FOMO trick to make you work with me. That’s not how I operate.
I genuinely just want you to win, whether you work with me or not. You can do all of this on your own, with free content from me and the 9 million other people who talk about this stuff.
The LinkedIn land grab isn’t over yet, but it’s getting close. So jump on it now, while you still can!
PS - Here’s the part where I try to sell you something:
I can help you:
→ Define your positioning to immediately stand out from the crowd
→ Figure out your content strategy for LinkedIn or YouTube
→ Create offers that sell (consulting, courses, software, etc)
If you want to talk about the options for working together, reply to this email or just set up a call here!
