How to become a rich & famous influencer (it's simple)

No really, it is

Me, comfortable with being mid as a YouTuber

I consider myself a pretty mediocre YouTuber. Honestly, I do.

The reason I got 130 million views isn’t because I’m amazing at making videos. There are so, SO many people who are way more creative than I am that much way better videos than I do.

But I just kept showing up again and again and again. For 3 years, I didn’t miss a single week of uploading before I finally let myself chill for Christmas of 2020.

Eventually, I made over 1200 videos in 7 years.

My point:

I’m not great at YouTube, I just brute forced it.

Which brings me to the point of this newsletter:

Pretend I just said the most profound sht you ever heard

By FAR the biggest reason people fail at building an audience is that they quit too soon.

They get excited about making content, they come up with an offer, and they go hard for a week or two.

It’s fun! They’re having a blast!

But then things grind to a halt. Maybe their first few posts didn’t do as well as they hoped, so they get bummed out and lose motivation. Or maybe they run out of ideas.

So they quit, come up with some new idea, and repeat the whole cycle again 🤦‍♀️

This is how literally 90% of people fail. So all it takes to be in the top 10% is… just don’t quit!

So here’s my advice:

I’ll keep it 💯: this part sucked

Understand that this sht takes time

I started my YouTube channel in September 2017, and it took me about 9 months to get over 10k views a month.

It may happen faster for you (especially if you hire me 😎), but don’t count on it.

So whether you’re trying to grow on YouTube or LinkedIn, you should go into this knowing that it’s probably going to be slow in the beginning.

But that’s ok, because:

30k views in a day without even publishing a new video

Once you DO break through, you're playing by different rules

When you hit critical mass and your content finally clicks, everything changes. Now you have a built-in audience for everything you do— and as long as you don’t fk it up, the snowball keeps rolling and growing.

It’s kind of funny how it becomes a self-scaling machine:

→ People watch your YouTube videos because other people watch your YouTube videos

→ People comment on your LinkedIn posts because other people comment on your LinkedIn posts

It’s a positive feedback cycle that just keeps going— this is why the big accounts keep getting bigger.

And trust me, being one of those “big accounts” is pretty great 😅

So here’s what you do in the meantime:

Don’t get stuck in “planning/strategizing” mode forever

You don’t need to read another book. You don’t need to buy a new camera. You don’t need to set up your Notion database.

You just need to pick a direction and go. Will it be the right direction? Maybe, maybe not. But you won’t know until you try!

Then stay consistent before you even think about changing direction:

→ YouTube: post at least 1 video a week for 3-4 months

→ LinkedIn: post at least 3x a week for 2-3 months (and comment daily)

If you’re not seeing any growth after that, then it might be time to consider a new direction.

One of those corny boomer Facebook memes that’s actually true

But whatever you do, DON’T QUIT.

The secret to being a disgustingly rich and famous influencer like me is simple: just keep going.

That’s it.

Always remember that you’re just one video/post away from breaking through!

If you just keep pushing and trying new things, eventually you’ll find something that works— it’s just a matter of time.

→ It’s literally impossible to fail this way.

But 90% of people don’t have the patience or grit to get through those early days where your content isn’t hitting.

They’ll never know how great it feels to have thousands of people who know you, support you and help you create opportunities for yourself and other people.

But if you keep going, you will.

And after a few years of that, you can do influencer boxing on Netflix for the REAL paydays 🤑

PS - Here’s the part where I try to sell you something.

I can help you:

Define your positioning to immediately stand out from the crowd

Figure out your content strategy for LinkedIn or YouTube

Create offers that sell (consulting, courses, software, etc)
